This tutorial goes over how to create awesome 3D effects inside Adobe Illustrator by using the appearance window. The appearance window is a sometimes under used element of Adobe Illustrator, but knowing how to use and manipulate it can open up a whole new world of opportunities to apply to your type work, designs, and illustrations.
One of the best parts of applying custom effects this way is that everything is super easy to toggle on and off, and all effects that are applied are completely non-destructive and easy to turn off or delete at any time.
Things covered in this tutorial including adding a stroke and fill, creating 3d extrudes, applying a bulge effect across the entire type element using the effects panel, and then saving out the style you created as a graphic style.
